Hi, I’m Steve
I’m a third-term Salinas City Councilman, with 20 years of public service experience in appointed and elected positions. From chairing the Salinas Planning Commission and serving on the Traffic and Transportation Committee, to serving terms on the board of directors for Hartnell Community College, Meals on Wheels, and Habitat for Humanity, I understand the challenges facing our communities from almost every angle.
My civic duties are regional and extensive. I am Chair of Policy for Monterey Bay Air Resources District (MBARD), a member of the California State Van Pool Authority (CalVans), a director on the board for the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG), a board member of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary, as well as a founding member and Vice Chair of Monterey Bay Community Power (MBCP), and a member of the Board of Directors of Community Health Services.
I love my community. Over the years, I’ve volunteered with the Jaycees and rotary, founded the Los Olivos Riker Street Neighborhood Association and neighborhood watch, and established and managed my own company in Salinas – McShane’s Landscape Supply, on Highway 68.
I’m devoted to my family. When I’m not working or volunteering, I love to spend precious time with my wife Danielle, and our son, Patrick. The challenges facing our area are deeply personal. I want my children to grow up here, not worry about safety, and have opportunities to work and live and raise their families in this region as well.
Will you join me?
– Steve McShane
