As the rain started, some folks were out in Salinas celebrating the city’s 5th annual Founder’s Day. The event happened along Lincoln Street. A couple thousands people showed up to enjoy crafts and games and music. The mission of Founders Day is to educate the community on the rich history of Salinas.

“If we don’t know where we came from, we’ll have no idea where we’re going and I think people recognize that,” [Steve McShane, Salinas City Councilmember, said]. “Whether they’re five years old or they’re five hundred years old, people are really recognizing that their history is important.”

And as you can see, it is a living history event. Many people showed up dressed in clothes celebrating Salinas history and culture.
